Hands
dirty, dusty
full of grime
marks of many past mistakes
scars from stumbling in the dark
empty
but for sin and wrongs
who would take them?

Hands
pierced
full of grace
reach out
and take them
dirty as they are
and make them clean.

In the end we have nothing to bring.
Except for wretchedness and total unlovable-ness etc. etc.

We deserved nothing - He gave everything.

Sola gratia (Latin) = "grace alone" (one of the 4 "exclusive particles", if that's the English word lol, from the Reformation: grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone, scripture alone)

(Gives me an idea - a poem for each of the 4? Heh...)

this is a great poem. it's simple but honest and moving.

i like the feeling of hopelessness created at first, ended by a gentle confidence once the voice is saved.
