Love your Enemies - The RebelsThe evening air is cool on my face as I wander through the quiet village. I still have some time before I have to go back inside; Grandmama doesn't like us to be out after dark. The Raiders usually come after nightfall, and there's no knowing what they'll do with you if they catch you outdoors all on your own. Everyone is afraid of the Raiders. They are the only elves who dare enter our village, walk our streets and barge into our houses. Silent CrySunrise over the quiet city: crystal spires and towers all aglitter, the wind hissing through the trees. Another day like all the others. Already long grubby lines of peasants from the countryside, pulling donkeys or carts laden with vegetables, poultry and other produce for the market, were forming before the four tall gates, coughing and grumbling, gossiping and trying to bribe the guards into opening up ahead of time. Shadows slowly crept into the corners and side-streets, giving way to the spreading light – but deep inside, everyone knew they never really left.

A door in Jiufen, Taiwan.
Doors with bamboo patterning are quite common in Taiwan - even more common are the motorbikes.

Jesus wants to be with us. He wants to be invited right into our lives. Not just into a religious sphere but into the everyday details like eating and sharing a meal. He wants to be our guest at every meal.
